CLAIM
A claim is going viral on social media, sharing a news story from a website called Breaking Tube, that ISIS flags were raised in a protest march in Meerut.
The story is in connection to a march which was organised on June 30 to protest the lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand. It is being reported by several media organisations that the protest march was organised without seeking permission from police authorities.
An altercation took place in which the police resorted to lathicharge, according to the reports. But according to Breaking Tube, ISIS flags was also raised in the protest. Individual handles such as Ritu, who is notorious for sharing fake news are tweeting this claim of the report.

TRUE OR FALSE
The claim that ISIS flags were raised in the march is false.
OUR METHOD
We spoke to the Senior Superintendent of Meerut, Nitin Tiwari who denied presence of ISIS flags in the protest.
Upon asking if black flags were raised in the protest, Tiwari said, “The flags were black and white. I think they are flags of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind.” Tiwari also expressed his disappointment at the false reporting.
We looked for Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind’s flag on their website and found that indeed, their flags have black and white stripes.
Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is an Islamic organisation based in India which was at the forefront of freedom movement.
Therefore, the claim made by the website Breaking Tube that ISIS flags were raised in the march is false.
