Kannur: CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on July 11 lashed out at the BJP and alleged that the “horse-trading” taking place in Karnataka was part of the saffron party’s agenda to make India “Opposition free”.
Yechury, who was in Kerala for unveiling a martyr’s column near here, claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party would go to any extent to grab power.
“The current horse-trading happening in Karnataka is part of BJP’s agenda to make India Opposition free. The BJP will go to any extent to grab power,” Yechury told reporters.
He also attacked the Congress leadership and said the party failed to handle the crisis in Karnataka and Goa.
“While BJP is trying to grab power in various states, the Congress party is becoming inconsequential. The Congress legislators have become a commodity in the political market,” Yechury said.
He said the BJP has tried to attack the Communist government in Kerala but the people in the state have always opposed such moves from the saffron party.
